In 2008, Keith Brymer Jones joined MAKE International Limited as Director and Head of Design. He has since continuously expanded his ever popular Word Range. In addition, he has brought to life many new collaborative ceramic collections. Keith has worked with both British & International designers, illustrators and creators.

Keith Brymer Jones has been creating designer tableware for over 30 years. And since 2015, he has shared his potting wisdom and passion on our TV screens. An expert judge on the hit Channel 4 show, The Great Pottery Throw Down. This has made him a cultural icon and his tears over the contestants executing their tasks brilliantly a must watch. At the start of 2025, Keith crowned the champion of GPTD for the 8th time!!

Keith started as an apprentice at Harefield Pottery aged 18. His first job was to unload clay from two filter presses. He then pursued his own career hand-making ceramics from his London studio for retailers. These included Conran, Heals, Habitat, Marks and Spencer, Ted Baker, Laura Ashley, Monsoon, Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys New York and Anthropology.

In 2012, Keith released his autobiography titled “A Boy in a China Shop: Life, Clay and Everything”. Keith has had a roller coaster of a journey to where he is now. The book starts with a ball of clay and takes you to places like London, Stoke-on-Trent, Kent, China & Wales. He subsequently went on a joyful book tour around the UK to a sellout crowd. Twice!

The design stage of each new product and the perfect prototype starts on Keith’s potter’s wheel in his UK studio. The full production then takes place in China. Unquestionably, a country with a deep-rooted history in expert ceramic production. Keith works closely with a team of highly skilled craftsmen to perfect the delicate production process. So they ensure each mug, bowl or jug matches the same style and high quality of his original design. Keith is proud to manufacture his ceramic ranges responsibly in China. In light of this, he has made a fun video to let everyone know here. It is Keith’s dream to bring production home to the UK. Fingers crossed; this dream may not be too far away!
